Punto Italian Restaurant offers every customer a unique sophisticated culinary experience. Luxury touches and contemporary industrial design help create a cozy outlook where green planted walls deliver a comfy and appetizing environment. During the concept creation, the designers aimed to respect the history of pizza, resulting in the passion of red with a modernized and upgraded version of an ancient giant pizza oven.
Combination of pure wood and handcrafted black metal provides industrial roughness in coexistence with the green plant injections to walls, resulting in a vital force to the space. All furniture, ceiling, lighting fixtures, and wall graffiti are custom-made and handcrafted. The pizza oven is covered by red painted iron, and elaborated iron ceilings are all covered enriched with natural woods, mirror, and mesh. Green plant balls in square iron forms and blue glass objects symbolize rain and fresh weather, emphasizing the character of the atmosphere. Fine gold colors add the final details that bring a luxurious atmosphere. Natural marble mid-wall separations are used to emphasize and locate the bar from the restaurant.
The total area of the restaurant is about 250 sqm, with 70 indoor seating and 42 available seated service on the terrace. Stylish industrial materialized furniture selection welcomes guests, while graffiti painted walls describe the cooking phases of pizza in the kitchen to increase appetite. The red painted pizza oven sprinkles the tasty smells throughout the area to make menu selection easy. Overall, guests are able to enjoy themselves with delicious dishes while going through stunning visibility and art.
The project started in January 2018 and finished in March 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey. Before the design process started, extensive research was conducted on Italian pizza culture. The objective was to create a nature-focused, cozy welcoming pizza restaurant. Several libraries in town were visited, and detailed web searches were conducted to gather inspiration. The project received initial positive feedback from the customer and pre-visitors. Despite challenges such as changing the graffiti theme multiple times and dealing with the weight of the oven chimney, the project was successfully completed.
This design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. The Iron A' Design Award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. It is respected for integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings, and contributing to a better world.
